Love Yourself Smoothie (anti-inflammatory)

We don't know where to start with how good this smoothie is for you! Absolutely packed full of vitamins and anti-inflammatory properties to help make up your 7 a day. Perfect for every day good health, immune boosting, pre or post work out and for inflammatory conditions! If you need it to be a bit sweeter then add a teaspoon of vegan syrup (eg maple) or a pitted date. Enjoy good health :)

Ingredients:

  • 1 ripe banana (or less ripe if on a low sugar diet)
  • 1 handful of frozen mixed berries
  • 1 handful of frozen blueberries
  • 1 handful of spinach or kale
  • 1 stick of celery, chopped
  • 1 small handful of watercress
  • 1-2 tbsp ground flaxseed
  • 1 tsp-1 tbsp nut butter (depending on whether you are working out or want to consume more or fewer calories)... leave out if nut allergies
  • 1-2 inches root turmeric, peeled (easier to peel using a teaspoon) or 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1-2 inches root ginger, peeled (easier to peel using a teaspoon)
  • Pinch of black pepper (this helps with the absorption of the turmeric)
  • 250ml/1 cup plant milk of your choice. See our milk guide here...

Optional extras

  • 1 tbsp of vegan protein powder (particularly good if regularly working out or trying to increase calories)
  • 2 tbsp pumpkin seeds, (ideally) soaked overnight and drained
  • Half an avocado
  • Pinch of cayenne pepper
  • 1 tsp maple syrup or a pitted date if extra sweetness is needed

Method:

  1. Place all of the ingredients straight into the blender and blitz until smooth.
  2. If you need to add a bit more milk then do so a little at a time. Enjoy.
