Asparagus spears are considered a luxury vegetable and although can be a little pricey, British asparagus spears are worth buying in season just because they taste so wonderful.

Season: Mid-April to the end of June

Nutritional benefits: Asparagus is a great source of folic acid (vitamin B9) and the green spears are high in vitamin K and C.

Quick cook's tip: Lightly seam asparagus with a little vegan marg and seasoning.
